Some people might offer that conspiracy theories result in mass terrorism like in “Al-Qaeda the Spider”. The definition of conspire is to secretly plot; a conspiracy involves more than one conspirator. In the case of “al-Qaeda the Spider’s” mass terrorism plot, it is sponsored by Al-Qaeda which is just one network whose Jihadist goals and tendencies are to kill people, maybe destroy property, but definitely to disrupt economies. Al-Qaeda is the network that acted alone on 9/11 and not obviously in conspiracy with other groups. Yet 10 years later in going after Al-Qaeda we are still fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan. Can the Taliban be considered a conspiracy with Al-Qaeda? You could make a case for a conspiracy except that the Taliban are not apparently conspiring elsewhere;likewise the Haqqani terror group in Pakistan seems more local or regional. So is there a conspiracy that wants to reach to America and /or the West? I am not sure that we really know? We must realize that a much weakened and fractured Al-Qaeda is not dead so are we safe? As long as terror plots are undetectable as some still are…we are not safe and we need to be aware and alert and realize that coordinated FBI,CIA, and Homeland Security efforts which are Toni Sharp’s role in “Al-Qaeda the Spider” and sequels to follow must be detected and foiled!
Obviously the 9/11 event was a sneak attack just like Pearl Harbor. No one who died that day because of the unexpected, deserved it. Families and anyone connected to 9/11 fatalities were all shattered for life. Bin Laden, Awlaki and Kahn have been now killed, but this will only temporarily weaken the Al-Qaeda network. The worldwide Jihadi mentality does not disappear, and radicalization may slow but not stop. Retaliation and undetected plot ideas could be inevitable as “Al-Qaeda the Spider” depicts many “what if” scenarios with sequels to follow. This is why the level of this book must be raised to a much higher awareness and alertness to avoid complacency in the West in particular and more specifically in the U.S. Are we safe???
The USA Today article I read in January of 2010 included interviews of the top people in Intelligence, Law Enforcement, the State Department and covered questions of terror in general since 9/11. Bin Laden was still alive and on the loose at this point. However, the consensus seemed to be that a number of Al-Qaeda operatives had been killed or captured since 9/11/01 and Al-Qaeda was therefore much weaker, and mass terrorism like 9/11 was unlikely. They all figured we were more subject to undetected individual attacks like Fort Hood, The Christmas Plane and Time Square incidents but less likely to have any mass attacks. I took issue with their remarks since I could think about non-detectable mass attacks. I started making notes which evolved into Al-Qaeda the Spider.
I can’t imagine people disagreeing with my message about the potential for mass terrorism. People may feel that since Osama Bin Laden is dead and other operatives are gone, and Zawahiri (#2 man now #1) is not the same leader, that mass terrorism is less likely since Al-Qaeda is much weaker.
Being weaker may partly be true but that is precisely the message Al-Qaeda would like to create, namely, a much reduced expectation and relaxation of security and protection; 9/11 should have taught us that we must always be aware, alert and prepared for any eventuality.
We are still spending a fortune and our people are still dying in war, and Al-Qaeda is still smiling since their 9/11 goals are still being realized every day about American lives and our economy.
Since Pearl Harbor and WWII with Japan, look at what Japan has become! Is it possible for us after 9/11 and 10 years to help Jihadists be converted similarly?
We need some kind of different leadership and strategic thinking; anything is possible!!
That’s another part of my message!
Other topics touched on my book but not really discussed included:
A) RELIGIOUS FAITHS
1. Judaism vs. Muslim faith and inter-marriage
2. Jihadist vs. Muslim and Islam
3. Christian advice regarding point 1.
B) INTELLIGENCE
1. Separate systems CIA/FBI/Homeland Security
2. Working together on coordinating point 1. To help make us safer
These topics relate to terrorism only based on:
A) Character background and beliefs plus
B) Apprehension and thwarting of terrorism.
This story attempts to enact a mass terrorism plot that could go undetected, is sponsored by Al-Qaeda and has nothing to do with airplanes, suicides or bombs. It covers many Jihadists in place in our environment, and what their mission is to affect people’s lives and the economy. The plot is discovered through the details coordinated by Toni Sharp, an undercover CIA operative, who connects the dots with the help of the FBI and Homeland Security. There are several twists and turns in the story, that affect the outcome that is not being revealed here for obvious reasons.
Only recently has the author, Art Aronson, taken the time to begin to fulfill items on his “Bucket List”; writing a book is one of those items. This is a book of what will be a series.
Aronson is a Chemical Engineer who worked in the corporate world for 27 years, lived in all parts of the country, and managed all kinds of people. He is an American patriot and feels strongly about preserving life and property. He tries to help the reader understand and believe that protecting life is our inalienable right; not destruction, killing and false martyrdom.
Art read a USA Today article in January 2010 downplaying mass terrorism, which he took issue with, began writing some notes which evolved into a novel “Al-Qaeda The Spider”.
The thing to explore and examine further, once you have read this book is whether such a plot or similar type plots are feasible. The answer is a definite “YES”, as you will understand even better in the sequel to this suspense story!
